“Let’s do it! Let’s MOON!” By Yvonne Rainbow

~ One sunny afternoon in January a gathering of women friends were sculpting clay figurines in the pottery studio when suddenly Kimchi said…

“Let’s do it ~ Lets MOON!”
Asked later what inspired her, she said:
“It’s taboo in our society to show our asses, and its always been taboo when I was growing up.
Maybe you all have had the experience of Mooning – and how liberating that is, how freeing that is, and I thought to myself:
I got some folks (women) in here with me, why don’t we MOON? ~ and I love glitter!!!
So glitter is kind of like – that we are Alive – we are tapped in, tuned in, turned on!
So I thought, wow combination of our delicious buttox’s ~ and sprinkles, so I decided –let’s put it all on video!
So I called us together, and I said: Let’s do it, let’s MOON the world, no the Universe!!!
Because there’s nobody else in the universe that’s doing this ~ except for us, and that’s what we do!!!
And I just wanted to say: Hey women, here we are, let’s do it!”

~ These naked butts are sharing their thoughts on what happened…
“Kimchi has always helped shake things up by getting the energy flowing, and when I first arrived in this little valley 15 years ago, I realized I was way too serious!  One quality I have had throughout life is feeling comfortable in my body, but with too few ways to express it!
Doing this spontaneous group, glittery moonbow helped lighten up my process of losing our dear friend in her physical form, but the ways in which she influences and touches our spirit will live on FOREVER!”

“So many women dislike some part of their anatomy–including their butt. I loved how we all celebrated our and each other’s butts on this day!
Kimchi is mourning the loss of the bulk of her butt, which used to be a bit bigger before the cancer, but it is still wonderful!
Let’s all celebrate our bodies and be proud of them! They serve us well no matter the size or shape”.

“I like to take any opportunity to reflect the delicious sunshine on my bare bottom buns. And so, the temptation was irresistable when I was given the chance to join the line up of multiple liberated jolly rumps, sparkling of glitter, shimmering in the magic sunbeams of this precious afternoon.
It was truly an exhilarating and satisfying jiggle fest of a moment.
Thank you to all who participated and especially to that very special instigator ~ she who says: “F***-it! Let’s go for it!” (you know who…)

“Who knew butt-fat could be an asset?

I am humbled before its jiggling majesty.”

~ and so we are left to laugh with Kimchi “Because there’s nobody else in the universe that’s doing this ~ except for us…”

Perfect Offerings-Up in Smoke by Helen Zuman

The night of Tuesday, December twentieth, was the longest of the year; Wednesday morning, I joined several others at the top of Lottawatta Way to sing (and drum) up the sun, Earthaven style. As she rose, great and orange, over a mound between two ridges, we serenaded each neighborhood, beginning with the one at our feet: “Hut Hamlet, you are beautiful/Hut Hamlet, you are strong/So wonderful to be with/We’ll help you carry on/Hut Hamlet, hear our loving song.”

Kimchi in my Kitchen-Video

This little video is a tasty mash-up of topics steeped in the interior juices of Kimchi’s perspective. Topics include drugs, shitting, Hospice, grief, pain. Lots of smiles and laughter! This was filmed the day after Kimchi got back from visiting Colorado where she saw her aunt and went to a personal growth workshop with a couple of good friends. December 2016.

Ship Going Down!

Kimchi is riding her leaky boat of a body into regions of the sea for which she has no charts, (with regular shouts of “Ship going down!” followed by laughter). She is laughing, crying, addressing her “bucket list”(bailing is low on the agenda), cooking, going for rides in the woods on the golf cart to visit folks and let her dog get some joyful exercise, etc. Continue reading “Ship Going Down!”

Another Assignment, by Helen Zuman

When I met Kimchi, in spring 2016, I knew she had cancer; I believe I’d seen a notice in the Earthaven newsletter that she was fundraising for holistic treatment her insurance didn’t cover. But that first time I saw her traipsing up the path to Medicine Wheel, aglow in shades of teal and turquoise (and, in my memory, accompanied by the tinkle of tiny cowbells), her illness seemed like a distant threat she could easily beat. It, not she, would pass. Continue reading “Another Assignment, by Helen Zuman”
